When Dr. Jerad West was just 15 years old, he found his inspiration to be an orthodontist during his own orthodontic experience. He discovered a new level of confidence when he saw how braces had transformed his smile.
Now Dr. West is grateful he has fulfilled his lifelong dream to give that same experience to others. Having his patients realize positive change through the reward of a new smile is incredibly rewarding.
Education and Continuing Education
Dr. West completed his undergraduate work at the University of California Santa Barbara, including a year of study exchange in New Zealand. Then he entered the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry, where he graduated at the top of his class in 2005.
After receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree, Dr. West attended Nova Southeastern University, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for his specialty certification in orthodontics. After graduation, Dr. West took the rigorous exam to obtain his orthodontic board certification, which he continues to uphold.
Dr. West is a co-leader of dental excellence in the North Tahoe Study Club, which brings together many local dentists and oral healthcare specialists. These professionals are focused on the ongoing improvement of oral health service and interdisciplinary care.
Dr. West also attends conferences with the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and American Association of Orthodontists each year. This allows him to stay current on the quickly developing technology and techniques in the orthodontic field.

Outside the Office
Dr. Jerad West is a native of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and moved to Truckee in 2007 with his wife, Saira.
Dr. West enjoys staying active year round with skiing, camping, boating, and fitting in as much golf as possible. He is also a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers!
